Cookies and analytics

This page is about the website, getfiit.co. We use PostHog to see how the site is used, and Google Ads to see which of our ads bring people to it. The site itself shows no ads.
What we measure
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to see how people use this website: which pages are viewed, which buttons are tapped (Start on WhatsApp among them), where visitors came from (the site that linked here and any campaign tags in the address), and errors a page runs into. PostHog receives your IP address with each of these and uses it to estimate your country and city. Session recording is switched off, so nothing you type or scroll through is recorded.
The profile page you open from a link the coach sends runs no analytics at all, and no Google tag.
Google Ads
We advertise Getfiit on Google. Where Google Ads is allowed (see below), these pages load the Google tag, and Google Ads keeps cookies in your browser, with names that start with _gcl_, so we can tell when a visit came from one of our ads. When you subscribe, the page checkout brings you back to tells Google Ads a purchase was made, with the plan's price. With each page you open, Google receives your IP address, the page's address, and details of your browser, and it may use them to show you our ads elsewhere. Google explains how it handles this on its own site.
Where Google Ads is not allowed, the Google tag does not load at all, so nothing is sent to Google.
What we keep in your browser
To count a visitor once across pages and return visits, PostHog can keep a random ID in your browser's local storage, and Google Ads can keep the cookies above. Whether they do depends on where you are:
- In the EU and the EEA, and in Switzerland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, and Gibraltar, we ask first. Until you allow it, and if you say no, nothing is stored, each page you open counts on its own, and the Google tag does not load.
- In the UK, the PostHog ID is kept from your first visit, which UK law allows for analytics used only to improve a website. Advertising cookies need your OK, so we ask before Google Ads can keep them. One answer covers both, and you can change it at any time.
- Everywhere else, both are on from your first visit, and you can turn them off at any time.
To work out which applies, our server looks your IP address up in a country database we host ourselves, built on data from the Number Resource Organization (nro.net) under CC BY 4.0. The address is not stored or sent anywhere for this.
We also keep your choice in local storage for 12 months, so a "no" holds on the next page.
Linking a visit to your chat
While analytics is on in your browser, the Start on WhatsApp buttons and the QR code add a short code to the message they fill in for you, like "Start (ref K7Q2MX)". If you send it, we link that website visit to your Getfiit chat, so we can see which pages bring people to the coach. The code is removed before the coach reads your message. You can delete it before you send, and then nothing is linked.
Turning it off
- Use Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, or .
- A "do not track" or Global Privacy Control setting in your browser switches analytics and Google Ads off completely, and so does a blocker that stops PostHog from loading.
